  1. Strangely, I have no problem at all about the A30 bus lane. It serves a purpose quite effectively. The bus lane is effective at the rush hour times of day and from 09h30 to 16h00, any vehicle can use it. This means that busses operate effectively at rush hour – exactly what the lane is meant to do. The Farnborough bus lane however is so restrictive in terms of the constant blockages that causes for car drivers compared to the A30 bus lane works quite well in my opinion.

  2. It is absolutely not fit for purpose. The only reason buses benefit from the bus lane is because the normal lane is so backed up all the time. If the bus lane was converted to a second general lane, then the tailbacks would be reduced. The removal will hopefully reduce accidents and go some way to reducing congestion on the A30. The main problem with it is that some people read the signs, but others do not. This leads to confusion, aggression and of course the many accidents we have all seen.

As for buses in Camberley in general – they are a nuisance themselves. Kings Ride is a prime example where my car (usually with 6 occupants) is frequently almost rammed off the road by buses with no more than 2 or 3 passengers. That route does not need full size single deckers every 10 minutes. Why not use minibus sized vehicles? I have signed the petition and will be sharing it to everybody I know.

    • The busses are fine and comfortable but sadly overpriced. They are very busy at certain times of day when you would expect them to be and quiet at other times when you would expect them to be. The biggest problem with the busses is affordability. Your journey with 6 people in the car in it would cost you at least £30 e.g. even if you only went Old Dean to Farnborough. Even with 2 people, it is very often cheaper to take a car! I would sign a petition against the cost of the busses but not against the bus lane as it does a perfectly good job at the times it is needed.
