Apple Bay – undoubtedly a fright, but no-one was hurt

Patricia has kindly sent us these photos of a mishap that occurred at Apple Bay – at the top of the High Street – on Tuesday afternoon. Apparently a driver lost control of their car. Fortunately, no-one was hurt, but the historic front of the shop was quite badly damaged. We’ve always liked its appearance, and can remember when Gieves and Hawkes, the tailor, operated there.

(We’ve added one photo of our own at the end of this post to show the window after the debris had been removed. Let’s hope everything is repaired soon, and that it looks as good as ever.)
