Terry has sent us this picture of a new seat in the High Street. He comments that ‘it’s not very exciting’. We’re tempted to agree with him. But at least the seat looks more functional and comfortable than the ‘stone seats’ in Princess Way. (Perhaps it’s deliberate that they’re not too welcoming, of course.)

Anti rough sleeper dividers too! Classy.
I hadn’t thought about that – but I guess you’re right.
Don’t the stone seats have wooden inserts like the photo
They didn’t last time I looked.
Exciting ?
What are you expecting – heating elements, massage vibrators built in ? Perhaps an Internet connection ?
Absolutely 5G will revolutionise the town…
Designed to you sit with your back to the traffic hurtling past – if you can’t see it, maybe it doesn’t exist…
I thought the stone “seats” were installed for anti-terrorism. In other words, hard to drive through…these don’t look as sturdy.
You could well be right. (One consideration is that street furniture should be difficult to hide behind… That’s why cars were banned in the High Street in the evening at weekends.
I think its good for socially distancing with the middle seat for your shopping
