Half a canopy

We’re not going to show the removal of every nut and bolt from the remaining canopy in Princess Way, but what this photo shows intrigues us.  Why on earth was such a massive canopy installed in the first place?  It’s a complicated and dominating structure for no good reason.  There are no ventilation ducts or anything else inside it to justify its bulk.  Good ridance – though a simple glass replacement would be a good idea.

    • What chance that it’ll say ‘Boots’, instead? (I really am only guessing here, but when the London Road Block gets redeveloped eventually, Boots will either leave town or move to somewhere else. Unless they’re going to downsize – which they might – only the former BHS or the former House of Fraser will be large enough, I suspect.)

      • I really hope that ‘Boots’ moves into the old ‘BHS’ site, and does not leave the town altogether, because it is one of the very few shops in Camberley in which I still shop. I also think that a glass canopy in Princess Way would be a very good idea.
