High Street restaurant – two years later…

It’s almost exactly two years since we wrote that a new restaurant – ‘WokandGo’ – was apparently coming to the High Street.  A notice to that effect had been put in the window of what had been the Stacks hardware shop.  The building was then scaffolded and, apart from its frontage, virtually totally demolished.

After which nothing much seemed to happen for, we guess, well over a year.  There were signs of activity of one sort or another behind the building, but construction appeared to be spasmodic until relatively recently, when it started to speed up a little.

Last week Rachel took a photo from the High Street and passed it on to us. (Many thanks, Rachel!).  This gives a good impression of what the final ‘new build’ will look like.  It also shows that some of the scaffolding had been removed.  Let’s hope it doesn’t take another two years to complete the job.

(By chance the Eye took a photo from behind the building just a few hours earlier.  We’ve included it to complete the picture.)
