What is this toaster doing here?

If you spend any time waiting to cross Pembroke Broadway, you’re likely to see this picture of a toaster.  But why is it there?

  1. If it had been on the next crossing, I’d have said it’s a warning that you’ll be toast if you cross there, since it hasn’t worked properly for weeks, but I haven’t got a clue…

    • That crossing seems to have been forgotten. Usually when a crossing isn’t working there are signs to warn traffic about it, but there’s no such thing in this case. And it has, indeed been out of action for weeks.
