Another restaurant in the High Street

It’s not many days since we pointed out that the former Stacks shop in the High Street carried a ‘Sold’ sign.  But Fiona – thanks Fiona – has now alerted us to a licence application relating to the premises.  The application is in the name of Holden Oriental Food Ltd (a new-ish company), and is for a thirty two seat restaurant selling alcohol for consumption off the premises (we assume alcohol will also be consumed on the premises).  The applicant’s e-mail address includes the terminology ‘wokandgo’.

Reading rather a lot into the above information, we think that a significant part of the new operation is likely to be fast food and a take-away.   If we’re right (and there’s a good chance that we’re not), we wonder whether a new take-away would fit with the council’s chief executive’s aim of “Attracting high quality development and exciting new retailers and businesses”.  We shall see.
