The ‘Eye’ doesn’t usually advertise. But our weakness for pastries means that we’re making an exception. We’re received a press release from Patisserie Valerie which says the following:
“Patisserie Valerie, which operates more than 115 cafés across the United Kingdom, will open its first Camberley shop on 10th August 2016.
The renowned national chain will move into a The Mall Camberley shopping centre in the heart of the town, and is located just a short walk from Camberley train station, and has created approximately 15 jobs.
The new store will offer the brands famously indulgent patisserie and cake range, which are lovingly handmade by expert bakers. Whilst customers indulge in the delicious freshly baked treats they will be able to enjoy handcrafted coffee by trained baristas and a selection of the finest loose leaf teas.
Customers will also be able to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea at the store, which involves a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and a range of mini patisserie bites.
The new store will also be a place to order and collect celebration cakes perfect for birthdays, anniversary and parties as well as wedding cakes. Customers can choose from Valerie’s signature range of gateaux and wedding cakes or use the company’s interactive create-a-cake tool. Patisserie Valerie also offers a bespoke cake service for birthday, wedding and other special occasion cakes which can be discussed with a member of staff in store.
Patisserie Valerie was first opened in Frith Street in London’s Soho in 1926 by Belgian born Madame Valerie. She came to London on a mission to introduce fine continental patisserie to the English, Patisserie Valerie is now a nationwide brand known as a haven for self-indulgence.”
We should, of course, point out that there are various cafes in Camberley already. The Eye can usually be spotted in one or other of them – just look for an expanding waist-line…
