The other day we reported that Level 3A of Main Square car park had been closed – we guessed in preparation for building modifications.
It now looks as if we were right. Holes have been bored into the structure in various places – particularly the pillars – presumably to check on its integrity. This pillar shows a couple of holes that have been filled again, but where the cement is still wet.
It rather looks as if another hole was drilled into the pillar some time ago. Which makes us wonder how many holes can be drilled before the structure is weakened significantly.
Also, as the borough council has now bought the building, an odd thought occurs to us. If an ordinary person buys a house, they usually have a survey carried out BEFORE they exchange contracts. Is the council doing things the other way round??
