Holiday Autos. Virtually nothing left, and construction is about to start.

These photos were taken at dusk.  But you can still see that the former Holiday Auto’s site in Camberley’s Pembroke Broadway has been pretty much cleared, and that  a pile-boring machine has been delivered ready to start work.

  1. What are they going to build instead? It can’t be a high building as it would block the view from the newly constructed retirement flats. Or can it??

    • I’ve been writing on and off about this development for a while, Gisela. http://wp.me/p3Dlu2-D5 gives the most information, but the planning committee turned down the planning application because of the appearance of the proposed building. The subsequent application – revised architecture with more red brick – was approved. I really must dig out a reference to it, but I think the size of the building is pretty much as originally conceived. (It’s ironic that the Churchill Retirement Homes building has a large banner attached to it boasting about the superb views from its rooftop terrace. I’m sure that’s true, but the immediate view is of a building site, I suspect!)
