Ice skating in Camberley – the latest picture

The title of this article might mislead some readers into thinking that it’s about the borough council’s plans for a skating rink this winter.  That’s the one that is/was destined for the London Road Recreation Ground, and which was the subject of a rather clumsy licence application a month or more ago.

But they’d be wrong.

Instead, we’re highlighting a rather tired picture that we spotted a while ago beside an industrial wheelie bin in one of Camberley’s service areas.  We just wonder what its history was.  Where had it been?

(Actually, we’re beginning to wonder whether the planned ice rink this winter will actually materialise.  Local residents have been somewhat ‘sensitised’ to the topic by that licence application, and they’re likely to scrutinise any proposal pretty closely.)

  1. Well it is a faded copy of Breugel’s Hunters in the snow which is in the main art museum in Vienna (Kunsthistorisches), so maybe it was a souvenir?
