Grass growing inside The Atrium

Not real grass, of course.  It’s artificial grass that’s appeared on this concrete slab inside Camberley’s Atrium.

The Eye has been around long enough to have discussed the lump of concrete with the contractors that build The Atrium.  If we remember correctly, the slab has no structural purpose.  What we were told was that it’s massive enough to absorb heat during a summer’s day, and then release it during the evening, thus regulating the temperature around it.

We weren’t entirely convinced at the time that this would work very well.  Covering the concrete with thermally-insulating ‘grass’ probably doesn’t enhance the effect either.
