Even Evesham pedestrianised its ‘high street’

With a bit of determination it’s usually possible to pedestrianise a road.  Even Evesham, in Worcestershire, managed to do it years ago.  Bridge Street, as its name implies, is – well was – a major route into the town over the River Avon.  Not all the shops in the road have a rear access by any means.  Yet now the road is virtually traffic-free.  Why can’t Camberley do the same?
